CHARACTER DESIGN

Jericho Emmanuel Drive (pictured right) is Noah's main original character and the subject of their webcomic-in-progress,
Jericho Drive & the Long, Long Way Home,
a self-described "violent action romance." Set in the year 1989 in the fictional American city of Los Ochenta, the characters and story of Long, Long Way Home mixes all that Noah loves when it comes to art and design: bright neon colors, an '80s throwback style, and an ironic, blasphemous twist on conventional Christianity and religion.

Often, Noah's loose and jerky art style prefers style and contour over realistic anatomy and appearance, choosing a more creative approach to depicting the people and the world he chooses to draw in his artwork.
Noah enjoys draw a diverse cast of characters and body types in his work, such as Pixie (pictured left), a plus-sized villain themed after heavy metal music and cockatiel birds. Characters with different types of bodies, such as fat and muscular characters or characters with body scarring and stretch marks are something that Noah takes pride in including in his art.

As a plus-sized person himself, Noah knows about the importance that representation in art and content can make to marginalized and oppressed people. Learning how to represent a diverse cast of characters from all different walks of life is extremely important factor when Noah chooses who and what he wants to depict in his original stories.

Creating characters with unique and interesting designs who also represent a wide variety of people, such as those from different ethnic backgrounds and with a wide variety of skintones is also something Noah finds value in.

Characters with a large amount of diversity not only in their physical appearance and dress, but also in their facial features and their hair textures, is a challenge that Noah finds extremely rewarding.

All the art under this section were original hobby art Noah did in between his time as a freelancer and a University student. He finds drawing a relaxing and enjoyable past time and often takes requests from friends on his Tumblr account, which boasts over four thousand followers, being one of his main social media venues for posting and seeking out other artists and content creators.

CUSTOM COMMISSION WORK

Scurra (pictured right) is an original character owned by Lati, a personal friend of Noah's. Lati commissioned this piece in August of 2021.

Much of Noah's commission work is done for friends who cannot draw themselves, who write out descriptions of their characters or use dollmaker websites such as Picrew and Neka to create references of their characters and what they want.

By creating the artwork that the client loves, regardless of if they're a friend or not, Noah hopes to deliver the best product he can to help facilitate the creativity of people with their own original worlds, characters, and stories.

Being an artist this way is extremely rewarding.
Mahito and Cal (pictured left) was a commissioned piece by Azazel for it's boyfriend. The piece depicts Mahito (Azazel's favorite character from the anime Jujutsu Kaisen) and the Calid Saint, the original character of KB. Azazel commissioned this piece in December of 2021.

Drawing things other artists might find embarrassing or turn down for being "cringy" is something Noah finds worthwhile. Romantic art and self-indulgent "shipping" pieces, such as the image pictured, always return beyond the client's expectations, and creating something that makes someone happy without feeling judged is a tenent that Noah holds close to himself when considering which clients to take on. Very rarely does Noah ever say "no" to the idea a client may have.

Sometimes, Noah does not have a personal connection to the client. The piece pictured right was an anonymous October 2021 commission of the character Juri Han from Street Fighter, sent through and deliberated through Discord after the client found Noah's commission post advertised on Tumblr.

Even without any sort of connection, Noah strives to complete the work as best he can while still adding his own personal flair to whatever character he is given- even if they're pre-existing characters such as Juri.

Treating clients with respect and dignity while ensuring thoughtful and friendly communnication is a rule that Noah holds above all when he takes on commission work and advertises himself. Above all, art should be fun for all involved.

COMICS AND ANIMATION

From 2014-2017, Noah was part of the online art collective GHOSTFRUITS, a small group of dedicated artists who produced eclectic comics, zines, music and other audio-visual content for the web.

As a member, Noah often created standalone original pieces, as well as longform comics ranging from two to upwards of fifteen pages. Othertimes, he would draw short, single page non-sequiter "strips" to fill in space in zines.

The work was often collaborative, with different members contributing to writing, inking, and coloring different pieces.
Creating digital gifs and pieces with moving components is something Noah takes pride in being able to do. With experience animating in Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop, & Gimp, Noah enjoys creating eerie moving pieces that range from moving backgrounds to full on animated gifs with multiple moving parts and characters.

While the work may be difficult, it is rewarding in producing something that matches the aesthetic and emotion that Noah is trying to illicit in a piece of work.

The animated gif drawn and animated in 2020 that is depicted right, shows off Noah's original character Jericho Drive.

The video depicted to the right, was a short 2020 animation/storyboard Noah did to the song Money Machine by the electronic duo 100 Gecs.

While done mostly for fun and personal entertainment, the short animation was also a test in synching up sound to animation and lip synching, and the attempt while frustrating also lead Noah to discover a lot about the process of animation, even if it was only a small, 25 second storyboard.

As usual, the character depicted within the video is Noah's original character Jericho Drive.
